Telegram
In brief
With Telegram, your assistant reads your private chats, groups and Telegram channels. With the Send right, it can send a message, a photo or a document there in your name.
Two steps:
- A Mitogen workspace admin opens Telegram for the team. No Telegram account is needed at this point.
- Each person connects their own Telegram account, in Connections, with their phone number and the code they receive.
Key points:
- Mitogen connects to your Telegram account, like a new session on a device. It is not a bot: a message sent by the assistant goes out under your name.
- Secret chats are never read.
- You see this session in Telegram and can end it at any time.
Before you start
| What you need | Why | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| You are an admin or the owner of the Mitogen workspace | Only they can open a tool for the team. | You can open Modules. |
| For each member: a Telegram account and their phone at hand | Telegram sends a login code. | The Telegram app is open on the phone or a computer. |
| For each member: their two-step verification password, if they have one | Telegram asks for it after the code. | In Telegram: Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification (Telegram FAQ ↗). |
Are you a team member? Go straight to Connect my account.
Open Telegram for the team
- Open Modules:
https://mitogen.ai/console/modules. - On the Telegram card, click Open. A short introduction appears: “Telegram, in Mitogen”.
- Click Open Telegram. Telegram is opened right away for the workspace: “Telegram is open for this workspace.” The window takes the title Link Telegram and two steps remain: Name · Access.
Not ready yet? Later closes the window without creating anything.
The Help ↗ link at the bottom of the window opens the section of this page for the step on screen. If you close before the end, the card shows To finish and Resume takes you back where you were.
Step · Name
On screen: the title “Name the binding”, the help “Telegram is ready for the workspace. It remains to choose who has access.”, and the field Binding name, prefilled with “Telegram”. For example “Telegram Team” or “Telegram Clients”. Click Save.
Step · Access
Here you choose who can use Telegram, and what the assistant may do there for each person. This screen is the same for every tool.
On screen: the line “Give access” and the help “Each person gets an email and connects their Telegram account in Connections.”
- One block for this Telegram binding, titled with its name (the one chosen at the Name step, for example “Telegram Clients”).
- In each block, the members of the workspace, with a checkbox per person. You appear as You, already checked.
- On each checked row, the five rights. Read is on and locked. Create, Modify, Delete and Send are set for that person. For Telegram, only Read and Send have an effect. A message sent by the assistant goes out under the person's name: only turn on Send for those who need it.
- Buttons Give access and Later.
What you do
- In each block, check the people who need it.
- For each person, turn on the rights they need. What each right allows in Telegram: see Rights.
- You can uncheck You as soon as someone else is checked in the same block.
- Click Give access.
While a block has nobody, Give access stays greyed out and a line below it reads “Add at least one person to Telegram Clients.”
Next
The screen confirms “The team can now use Telegram.”, then “2 people will receive an email.” If there is only one: “1 person will receive an email.”. Click Done.
If the email could not be sent, the screen shows “Access is saved. The message was not sent. Copy the Connections link.” Copy the link offered and send it to your colleagues yourself.
If you click Later, everything so far is saved, but nobody has access. The card shows To finish with the line “Access to grant”. Resume brings you back to this step.
You can change rights at any time afterwards, in Team › Connection rights (see Rights).
Connect my account
- Open Connections:
https://mitogen.ai/console/connections. - Under Telegram, click Connect my account.
- Number (international format): your number with the country code, for example
+44 7700 900123or+32 470 12 34 56. - Code received on Telegram: Telegram sends you a code, usually in the app itself (the “Telegram” chat). Enter it.
- Cloud password: only if you turned on two-step verification. It is the password you chose in Telegram for this protection.
- Confirm. Your account appears under the binding.
Always enter the code and password in the console, never in the conversation with the assistant. Mitogen keeps the session encrypted.
Possible messages
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Enter a number in international format.” | Add the country code, with the +. |
| “This number has no Telegram account.” | Check the number, or first create an account in the Telegram app. |
| “Code or password refused.” | Enter the latest code again. For the password, check capitals and keyboard layout. |
| “Telegram is not responding. Try again.” | Wait a moment, then start again. |
Rights
Rights are set per person and per binding.
Common rules
- Read comes with access. It is locked and cannot be removed.
- Send is set person by person: at the Access step, then at any time. Only a workspace admin or the owner sets it.
- You need the right in Mitogen and the right in Telegram: if you cannot write in a group or channel, neither can the assistant. Telegram checks it at each send.
- Removing a person's access also cuts their connections on this binding.
For Telegram, only Read and Send are of use. Create, Modify and Delete are shown as everywhere, but Mitogen can neither edit nor delete a Telegram message. If you turn them on, any matching request will be refused.
| Right | What it allows in Telegram | What it does not allow |
|---|---|---|
| Read | Search and read your private chats, groups and channels, with their history and media. | Read secret chats and archived chats. |
| Create | Nothing for this tool. | |
| Modify | Nothing for this tool. | Edit a message. |
| Delete | Nothing for this tool. | Delete a message. |
| Send | Send a text message, a photo or a document (15 MiB at most, about 15 MB) in a chat or channel where you can already write. The message goes out under your name. | Write in a chat you are not in. |
Where to set rights: at the Access step when you open the tool, then at any time in Team › Connection rights.
If something blocks
| What you see | Most likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No code received | The code arrives in the Telegram app, not always by SMS. | Open Telegram on a device that is already signed in. |
| “Code or password refused.” | Code expired or mistyped, or wrong password. | Start again with the latest code. |
| Two-step verification password forgotten | Follow Telegram's procedure: Telegram FAQ ↗. | |
| The assistant cannot find a chat | Secret or archived chat. | These are not read. |
| The assistant cannot write in a group | You may not write there in Telegram, or you lack the Send right in Mitogen. | Check both. |
| Reconnect | The session was ended from Telegram. | Reconnect and enter number, code and password again. |
Remove access
- A person: Connections › Revoke this account.
- An admin, for one person: binding sheet › Access section › remove the person. Their connections on this binding are revoked.
- An admin, for the binding: binding sheet › Remove binding.
- On the Telegram side, each person: Settings > Devices (or Privacy and Security > Active Sessions), then end the Mitogen session (Telegram FAQ ↗).
Your messages stay in Telegram. Nothing is deleted when you remove access.

FAQ
Is it a Telegram bot?
No. It is a session of your own account, as if you opened Telegram on a new device.
Will my contacts see that the assistant is writing?
No. The message goes out under your name, as if you had written it. That is why Send is set person by person: only turn it on for those who need it.
Does the assistant read my secret chats?
No, never.
Why “Cloud password”?
It is the password for Telegram's two-step verification. If you have not turned it on, Mitogen does not ask for it.
Can I cut access from Telegram?
Yes. End the Mitogen session in Settings > Devices.
