# Play a recipe

Some sequences come up again and again: check an order in Odoo, write the follow-up to the customer, file the document in the right place. Rather than explain it all every time, you can turn it into a recipe. A recipe is a series of steps you did once on a case, which the assistant can then repeat on another case.

Everything happens in the assistant, on a case, with you in the conversation. The console is not used to create or run a recipe.

## Create a recipe from a case

Start from a conversation where you are already working on a case, and where the steps you want to repeat have been done.

1. Ask the assistant to turn it into a recipe. For example: "Make this case into a recipe called 'Quote follow-up'."
2. Give it a title, if the assistant hasn't already taken one from the case.
3. The assistant prepares the recipe from this case and from the connections it needs. If one is missing, it tells you: link it in [Your connections](/en/connections), then come back to the conversation.
4. Ask it to publish the recipe. Until it is published, nobody can play it.

## Play a recipe

1. Open a conversation in the right workspace.
2. Name the case and the recipe. For example: "Play the 'Quote follow-up' recipe on the case Order S00051 – Martin SA."
3. The assistant plays the recipe on that case: it reads the items, then carries out the planned steps with your connections. You stay in the conversation and follow what it does.

## Good to know

- **One case at a time.** If you name two cases you already have, the assistant plays the recipe on each one, separately. It won't, however, play it on a whole list of cases in one go.
- **You need to be able to change the case.** If you only have read access to the case, the assistant won't play the recipe.
- **Always with you.** A recipe is played in the assistant, on a case, by a person present in the conversation. This guide does not describe any other way to run it.
